Dr. Kuma Chuol Biel is an obstetrician gynaecologist with 21 years of experience. He graduated from university of juba with MBBS (1995). After internship, he worked as a medical officer in department of obstetrics and gynaecology of Rebek hospital for 2 years. He completed Clinical Medical Doctorate (CMD) in obstetrics and gynaecology at University of Khartoum (2004).

He worked as assistant professor at Upper Nile University (2004), Specialist Obstetrician gynaecologist at Khartoum teaching hospital and St. Mary’s Maternity Hospital Khartoum (2004- 2010), head of Obstetrics and gynaecology Juba teaching hospital (2011-2016). He is currently a consultant obstetrician gynaecologist at Riverside hospital.

Dr. Byaruhanga Charles is a RiversideHospital Specialist and Director of Seyanyana Children’s Clinic (Pty) Limited, Francistown, Botswana. He has been in practice as a Pediatrician for more than 5 years.

He is a very passionate and committed doctor. He enjoys challenges, reading and critique, adventurer, meeting new friends, and attending parties. He has worked at the following hospitals: St. Mary’s Hospital

Lacor in Northern Uganda, St. Francis Hospital Nsambya-Kampala, Mubende Regional Referral Hospital-Uganda, and Torit State Hospital-South Sudan as a CORDAID-Specialist Pediatrician.

Dr Plaxcedes Chikwema is a passionate obstetrician and gynaecologist with 8 years experience. She attained her Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2017 at the University Of Zimbabwe College Of Health Sciences.

Her medical career spans over 19 years from when she obtained her (MBChB) degree of Medicine and Surgery at the same University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences in 2006. She practiced in Zimbabwe and then moved to Botswana in 2021. She offers comprehensive and holistic evidence-based obstetrics and gynaecology services with patient satisfaction as the main goal.

Dr Chikwema has a special interest in gynaecologic oncology which is the field that deals with cancer in women. She is passionate about prevention, screening and ultimately treatment of gynaecological cancers.

She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public health which will be useful in further advancing the health of women. Dr Chikwema has a keen interest in medically relevant women’s health research.

She has worked in a clinical trials unit as a research medical officer and has various publications to her name. Expertise: gynaecological oncology, open and minimal access gynaecologic surgery, contraceptive and fertility management, and comprehensive obstetric care.

Dr Amira William Deng graduated with MBBS in 2010 at Ahfad University for Women and Completed internship in several hospitals in Khartoum Sudan then worked as Medical Officer from 2011- 2014.

Dr Deng graduated with MMed with master’s degree in medicine (MMed) from the University of Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) class 2015- 2019 and worked as internal medicine physician for 1 year.

Underwent MSc Nephrology training 2020-2022 Completed MSc nephrology programme at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS graduate as renal medicine specialist(nephrologists) also she underwent fellowship training with world kidney academy fellowship and completed Glomerular Disease.

Fellowship Program:

One year training 2023 – 2024. Dr Deng worked in various capacities at different hospital in Daressalaam Tanzania as internal medicine specialist and nephrologists.

Area of interest

Dr Deng has a big interest in kidney transplant and Glomerular disease management. Her future and vision is to be transplant nephrologist.

Dr. Antonio De Zayas is a Consultant obstetrician gynecologist with experience of 24 years. He ompleted is Medical Diploma from University of Cuba (1991) and M.D.D.D.G.O from Gynecologist and bstetrics Teaching Hospital Cuba (1995).

He has worked as consultant obstetrician gynecologist in Zambia at Chipata General Hospital, Kamuchanga District Hospital, Kitwe Central Hospital, Ronald Ross Hospital, SINOZAM Friendship Hospital, McGregor Nursing Services from (1997-2005).

He joined medical practice in Botswana in 2005 and worked as Consultant Obstetrics and Gynecologist at Bamalete Lutheran Hospital (2005- 2010), Riverside hospital (2010-2013) and currently as Director of Maternity Care Clinic Francistown. He has been involved in teaching of nurses and doctors at different levels.

Area of Interest He has a wealth of experience in management of wide ranges of obstetrics and gynecology conditions. He has special interest in Minimal Access Surgery.

Dr. Jabo Chris is a Diagnostic Radiologist withclose to a decade’s experience in Radiology. He is a vibrant and articulate individual, fully experienced in working with multi-disciplinary medical teams; exceptional analytical and decision-making skills while consistently delivering high standards, building strong internal and external key relationships.

He has the ability to work efficiently, good interpersonal communication and negotiation skills, and conceptual thinking while remaining results oriented. He is competent in various modalities in Diagnostic Radiology.

Qualifications

He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Mbarara University of Science and Technology in 2005 and Master of Medicine in Diagnostic Radiology from Makerere University (2014). He later worked at Mengo Hospital from 2015 to 2019 as a Radiologist and offered services at Lubaga Hospital and Victoria Hospital in Kampala Uganda. He was a volunteer clinical instructor at Mulago National Referral Hospital Department of Radiology teaching MMed Radiology students. Since 2020, he has been engaged at Riverside Hospital.

Area of interest

He has special interest in Musculoskeletal and vascular imaging. He is a clinical instructor at Riverside Hospital in diagnostic ultrasound with a goal of imparting knowledge and skills to various medical cadres with interest in Ultrasonography.

Dr Kinasha graduated with MB ChB in 1977 at Makerere University and Completed internship at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre, Tanzania then worked as District Medical Officer from 1978 to 1980.

He graduated with MMed in Surgery from the University of Dar es Salaam 1983 and worked as a general urgeon for 1 year. He undertook neurosurgical training in Singapore 1984-1987.

Completed MSc (neurosurgery) sandwich programme, University of Dar es Salaam/Ludwig Maximillian University, Munich 1993-1996 as a WHO Fellow. Dr Kinasha worked in various capacities at University of Dar es Salaam as Head of Department, Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies, Faculty of Medicine and Senior Lecturer and Medical Director at Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute.

He practiced and taught neurosurgery to undergraduates and postgraduates. He was also visiting senior lecturer in neurosurgery University of Malawi, University of Rwanda and Gothenburg University, Sweden. Awarded FRCSI in 2008. Dr Kinasha was the president, College of Surgeons of East Central and Southern Africa.

Previously adjunct Assistant Professor of Neuroscience, medical University of South Carolina and Board Member, Foundation for International Education in Neurological Surgery (FIENS), Chicago. Worked as neurosurgeon at Bokamoso Private Hospital (2010-)2022, and currently at Riverside Hospital as of December 2024.

Medical and surgical management of brain and spine diseases resulting from trauma, degenerative conditions, infection and neoplastic diseases. Management of pain conditions.

Dr Ladu as 20 years’ experience as a General Surgeon. He graduated with Bachelor Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1988 from the University of Juba. He obtained the degree Master of Medicine in Surgery (M. Med Surg) from the University of Nairobi in 1999.

After internship he worked in numerous hospitals in Sudan including Soba University hospital, Khartoum Teaching Hospitaland Gaderaf Teaching Hosptal as a medical officer and Teaching Assistant University of Juba (1989-1993). He was in Somalia for two years as a medical officer (1993-1994).

He did his postgraduate education in the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi (1995-1999). After graduation in 1999, he relocated to Botswana. He has mainly worked in Nyangabwe Hospital (2000-2006), Princess Marina Hospital (2006-2007) and Riverside Hospital 2007-present). He is currently working in Riverside Hospital in Francistown.

He can do most operations in General Surgery including the following major surgeries: Cholecystectomy, Colectomy, Resection and Anastomosis, Nissen fundoplication. Dr Jubilate Mallya, born on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. He graduated with MBChB at Makerere University in Uganda in 1974 followed by internship.He worked as a medical officer and later as District Medical Officer in Tanzania between 1975 to 1978.

He joined post graduate specialization program at the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (medical school) in 1978 and he proceeded to the University of Helsinki in Finland in 1982 for the same program and successfully completed specialisation in Oto-Rhino-Laryngology in 1984.

He worked as an E.N.T. Specialist in Tanzania from 1985 to 1989, during which time he was also a visiting consultant OTOLOGIST to YEKATIT 12 Referral Hospital in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. Dr Mallya was also promoted to the position of “The Fellow of the Association of Surgeons of East Africa.” In 1990, Dr Mallya moved to Botswana where he was appointed an E.N.T. Surgeon of the Government of Botswana.

He was given the assignment to open the E.N.T. Department of the newly opened Nyangabwe Referral Hospital. His services also included outreach E.N.T. surgical and teaching services to all the District and Primary Hospitals in the Northern Region of Botswana. He received the Presidential promotion to the rank of Senior E.N.T. Consultant in 1998.

From 2001 to ate, he started a Private Practice to provide E.N.T. services in Francistown under BOIPUSO SURGERY. This was with the intention to continue rendering services to Northern Botswana and conduct E.N.T. Surgical operations at Riverside Hospital. Dr Mallya is a member of South African Society of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology.

Dr Karen Mosojane is a Dermatologist, a speciality of Medicine that focuses on diagnosis and management of diseases affecting the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes. After obtaining her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery, she worked for four years in Princess Marina Hospital.

Two of those years were spent as a medical officer in the Dermatology department. She then spent a further four years at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she obtained a Master of Medicine in Dermatology and became a Fellow of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa under the speciality of Dermatology.

Thereafter she came back home to Princess Marina Hospital, as a Dermatologist and continued to help Batswana for two years. As a consultant Dermatologist, she then left government and opened her own private practice, Innova Dermatology Clinic, in Riverwalk Walk Mall, Gaborone. She offers once monthly outreach dermatology visits to Riverside Private Hospital in Francistown.

She has authored and co-authored over fifteen research papers in internationally recognized Dermatology Journals. Through the American Academy of Dermatology, she was a recipient of the Strauss & Katz Scholarship in March 2022. She has also received the Imrich Sarkany Non-European Memorial Scholarship through the European Academy of Dermatology &Venereology in September 2024.

She regularly attends international conferences to keep refreshing her knowledge in the field so as to continue to offer evidence-based treatments to her patients.

She is a member of the Women’s Dermatologic Society, International Society of Paediatric Dermatology, South African Society for Dermatologic Surgery and European Academy of Dermatology &Venereology.

Dr Oduor is a well-known Eye surgeon in the Northern part of Botswana (and indeed within Botswana’s Ministry of Health and Wellness circles). He has been in Government service since 2002, when he joined from Kenya having served there from 1993. Initially he was stationed at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (2002-2009) and later Sekgoma Memorial Hospital Eye unit (2009-2018). He has been with Riverside Hospital from since the introduction of ophthalmology service early 2020.

Qualifications

Dr Oduor obtained Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1987 from the University of Nairobi. He later graduated Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology in 1993 from the same University. He has Post-graduate Certificate in Basic Microsurgery and posterior chamber Intra ocular lens implantation from the Fred Hollows Foundation of Australia (1995). While in Botswana, he completed a course and obtained certificate in the Management of Medical Institution (2008) and later Postgraduate certification in Small Incision cataract Surgery and Phaco – emulsification cataract surgery (MSICS / PHACO) at Aravind Eye Hospital in Madurai India (2012). He had exposure to the medical Management of Diabetic retinopathy and Strabismus.

Dr. Raul Alberto L.V.R graduated as a medical doctor from General Calixto Garcia University hospital, Havana university school of medicine, Cuba in 1973.

He graduated as general urologist in 1975 from the same university above and worked in America Boavidas general hospital, Luanda, Angola (1975-1977). He then obtained other degrees in urology (Masters in sexology, master’s in emergencies and urgencies and Masters in superior medical teaching) from Havana University Cuba.

He was a professor and investigator of urology at Havana University from 1977- 2014. He worked as a senior consultant Urologist at Nyangabwe referral hospital (2015-2018) and now Riverside hospital Francistown, Botswana. He is an Academician with over 31 different publications in his names in peer review and international journals.
